Government to fight use of cross-border telecommunications

The government has formed an inter-ministerial committee to prevent and combat cross-border crime,  especially the illegal connection to and use of Cambodian telecommunication services.

According to a directive signed recently by Prime Minister Hun Sen, Minister of Post and Telecommunication Chea Vandeth was appointed as the chairman of the committee, secretary of state Ieng Sunly from the Ministry of Economy and Finance will serve as first vice president, and many other high ranking government officials are vice presidents and members.

The committee has the duty of inspecting all cross-border connection telecommunication infrastructure aiming to use the country’s telecommunication services. The committee also has the duty to ensure the effectiveness, security, and quality of telecommunication services in Cambodia.
